Someone somewhere is in pain. That pain is probably related to this day ten years ago and I would be remiss if I missed that point.
Today, however, I want to embrace the concept of suffering in silence.
You see, as I have said before about this, we aren't islands to ourselves. Instead we are a Body. That said, as a Body, we experience all things together.
We can rebuild the World Trade Center easily. Emotions are much harder to repair. So are lost lives. This Body lost a member last week to depression at the front steps of a church building ironically.
Why would I include this in a post on September 11? Because just like planes crashed into the towers and stole lives, depression crashes into us -- often under the radar because we don't dig far enough past the surface to see what's going on -- and steals lives.
In either case, our response is this: embrace the hurting. Forget the sermon you wanted to teach, the race you wanted to watch or the newest music/movie/show that came out.
Go out and love someone. You have no idea how much the very person next to you may be hurting and you contain exactly the healing they need.
