God is the best at everything there is and ever will be. As Christian called to reflect the behavior of this God, we should also be. That said, why is it that so often we make such sucky workers, friends, spouses, and so on? The answer lies in love.
To be the best ANYTHING, we have to be the best lovers. I really think it would be safe to say we should compete to love more and serve more and be more humble (gently, let's put away the knives). I'm not suggesting that we fight to the death, but if we were as dedicated to loving people as we were to getting a Harry Potter ticket for the midnight preview this week, we'd be better people.
Let's be the best because God is, whatever it is that we do, so that people are able to see God's mark a bit more clearly on our lives.
